The Black and The Purple

The Black and the Purple (Black//Purple for short) is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign written and DMed by myself, J.R.R. Flores. It uses the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and is set in the kingdom of Cormyr.

As Cormyr picks up the pieces after a devastating war and the loss of its beloved king, a new darkness looms on the horizon–the Zhentarim. An evil organization bent on conquering all of Faerun, the Zhentarim seeks the rich land of Cormyr to use it as a central hub of controlled black market trade.

The Zhentarim stronghold tasked with taking Cormyr is Fortress Tethyamar, a mighty citadel to the northwest of the kingdom. Its leader is no weakling–he is none other than Banefist Grimgashr, an ogre mage warlock and son of the devil Volgauth, a loyal servant of the dark god Bane. Grimgashr’s followers are numerous and diverse–loyal swordsmen schooled in the Kara-Turan way of the samurai, fanatical clerics, monks skilled in assassination, and powerful arcanists–all zealously loyal to the cause of Bane and his Chosen Tyrant–Fzoul Chembryl, High Lord of the Zhentarim.

In this titanic clash between light and darkness, will our heroes triumph and be ensured a place in history? Or will they perish like the many who have fallen before the black might of the Zhentarim?

Black//Purple is more than just a D&D campaign for fun. It is actually a project of our school’s creative writing club, Inkwell. Every time we play, the events are chronicled and adapted into story format, and posted on our bulletin board in school. This blog will be an archive of all the past chapters.
